Send to KindleTweetThe writers at Saturday Night Live took aim at Verizon and their 4G LTE network this weekend. Mocking Verizon’s numerous products and buzzwords, SNL called the wireless carrier “an old person’s nightmare.” Now think about this in the context of buying a smartphone: As of today, Samsung has over 134 cellphone choices on its website. How likely is a novice going to choose one of these, or just give up and keep the cellphone they are using now, or make a snap decision based on getting out of the store as quickly as possible? Enjoy the video below and have a good lauph on behalf of 4G. Read more »

AT&T Sells More iPhone’s than Verizon

Send to KindleTweetThis Thursday, CNN Money reported that AT&T outsold Verizon when it came to iPhone’s last quarter. Big Blue ended up selling 7.6 million iPhone’s; whereas Big Red sold a measly 4.2 million. Sprint will be revealing their sales on February 8, 2012. The weird part about the entire thing is that Verizon outsold AT&T when it came to new contracts. Verizon had 1.2 million new customers get an iPhone, and AT&T only had 717,000. Including Android, Windows Phone 7, and BlackBerry, AT&T sold a total of 9.4 million smartphones last quarter. This means that about 81% of AT&T sales were to the iPhone. Now, I’m assuming that Big Blue and Big Red outsold Sprint, but hey, you never know. Read more »

LG Optimus Slider for Sprint – First Look

165069-lgoptimusslidersprint

Send to KindleTweetAfter first showing up on a “mysterious leaked document” from Sprint, we have finally gotten a picture of the new LG Optimus Slider. From this picture, you can’t see that much, but we can tell that the Android powered smartphone will have a camera button. Though that’s about all we know about the device, we also have a hint on the carrier(s). Obviously it will go to Sprint, but also a new device (much like this) has recently passed through the FCC with a Verizon model number as well. But, if it follows suit with the original Optimus devices, we may just see it on AT&T and T-Mobile. Picture from Pocket Now Read more »

iPhone to Have a Bigger Screen?

Send to KindleTweet As the iPhone 5 is rumored to be released in the summer, around the same time all other iPhones have been released, there are many rumors going around. Some of these rumors include a fixed antennae, a better processor, and a bigger screen. Why would they be doing this, though? Well, they are fixing the antennae obviously because of the current antennae problems, even on the Verizon iPhone.  They are probably improving the processor to a dual-core A4 so the apps feel speedier, and they are making the screen bigger to compete with some of the newer smartphones. What do you guys think?  Do you think any of this will actually happen, or will these stay at being rumors? Read more »

Verizon iPhone 4 Has Antenna Problems, Too

verizon_iphone

Send to KindleTweetEven with the new antenna, the Verizon iPhone is also subject to antenna issues when held in the "Death Hug". The "Death Hug" happens when you cup your phone in both hands in the landscape orientation. This isn’t nearly as popular as the "Death Grip", but still slows both 3G and WiFi when loading websites. Although, if you think about it, what does wrapping your hands around an antenna typically do? I think this appears to be more of a problem because the placement (out of sight), rather than the antenna itself. [iLounge] Read more »

Verizon Breaks First Day Sales Record With the iPhone 4 Pre-Orders

Send to KindleTweet Only two hours after Verizon put up pre-orders for the iPhone 4 they broke their first day sales record.  Crazy, but no surprise. For years now people have wanted the iPhone 4 on Verizon, and not too long ago, that happened.  Think about all the people who wanted the iPhone 4 on Verizon, a majority of them probably pre-ordered the iPhone 4 for Verizon. It’s not really a good idea to pre-order this, mainly because of rumors of the “iPhone 5″ coming out this summer, but people don’t seem to care.  We’ll have to see how the service is on the iPhone 4 when people start speed testing it and comparing it to AT&T’s service.  With breaking first day sales records after only two hours, there has to be at least some people doing speed tests! -Brendan Read more »

AT&T Goes After Verizon With New iPhone Ad

image.png

Send to KindleTweetAs you all probably know by now, the iPhone is now on Verizon, which is great for the many people who have waited for that.  The only problem with the Verizon contract is that you can’t do voice and data at the same time.  For example, if you’re calling somebody, and you want to go on the internet during the call, it won’t work out well. AT&T has recently made an ad for the iPhone 4, demonstrating how with AT&T’s service, you can do voice and data at the same time, ending the advertisement with, “Only AT&T’s network lets your iPhone talk and surf at the same time.” What do you guys think of this?  Will you switch to Verizon?  If you are considering switching to Verizon before the next iPhone comes out, you might want to check out this post. -Brendan Read more »

Verizon iPhone launching on January 11th?

Send to KindleTweetYes, you heard me right. In just 4 days, Verizon is rumored to be launching their own iPhone. Gizmodo’s got some decent evidence as well. First of all, they wrote about how MG Siegler of Techcrunch and Jim Dalrymple of Loop Insight (two well known Apple bloggers) were invited. MG had this to say: I don’t typically get invites directly from Verizon to anything. At least not that I can recall. They usually send those directly to the MobileCrunch and CrunchGear guys. But this invite appears to very specifically be for me – it’s non-transferable. Would Verizon send me such an invite unless it was specially about Apple? Here’s the main thing though. Gizmodo and Verizon are tight. Giz always covers their events and everything. This time? No inviation for Chen and the gang. Why? It’s AN APPLE EVENT. No WAY Steve Jobs would let Gizmodo into that event after the whole iPhone 4 leak ordeal. So, what do you think? Verizon iPhone? Or no Verizon iPhone? Read more »
