Motorola Atrix: The Future of Computing?

Send to KindleTweetImagine the scenario: you are walking down the street, going to school. Then, you remembered that you forgot to print out your report, due today! So you stop in a coffee shop, take out your phone, and dock it into a docking station, next to a monitor, in the coffee shop. Then your entire desktop, appears on that monitor, for you to access your document, and print out your report. If you truly take time to think about it, it is a very original idea, that does have some potential. Motorola, an American based producer of mobile devices, is trying to make this original concept become a reality. The Motorola Atrix is an AT&T, Android 2.2 phone, but that isn’t the interesting part. Like the example, the Atrix can be docked into a laptop or desktop “docking station”. These docking stations would then bring up a web browser, as well as some Android applications that are compatible with the Atrix Docking Station. Bear in mind, both of these docking stations cannot be used as a computer without the Atrix itself, without the Atrix they would only be a blank monitor, and keyboard. Prices have not yet been announced for either the Atrix, or it’s docking stations. Although our little example cannot be possible with our current technology, due to hard drive space, we can probably expect something very similar to our example in the future. Motorola has a very original product, that has a lot of potential for the future, but in modern day, can this truly succeed? Will customers be interested in buying external docking stations for their phone? Will the Atrix be put above some of the other Android phones for having this feature? I am certainly wondering why the Atrix is not running 2.3 Gingerbread. Hopefully we will find some answers. But I will tell you this, their concept for the Atrix certainly has a lot of potential. Verizon’s $350 Termination Fee
Send to KindleTweetYou might want to be careful when buying a new phone from Verizon. They have just introduced a new $350 termination fee. If you cancel before your 24 months is out, you will be paying $350 minus $10 for each month you have had the line. This applies to all “advanced” phones which includes some lower-end phones so it isn’t just the smart phones. The complete list of “advanced” devices is on Verizon’s website. This doesn’t apply to you if you bought a phone before the 14th; anything after that uses this new rule. You might want to take a good long think before you commit yourself to Verizon in the future.
