Send to KindleTweet Nintendo released its latest video onto Nintendo Direct, a news service for Nintendo fans, which featured new information on Kid Icarus: Uprising and other new 3DS installments. Let’s check it out! First up, adding on to other successful downloadable games on the Nintendo 3DS’s eShop, the new action and strategy game Dillon’s Rolling Western has just been released. The player controls a feisty armadillo that must protect a multitude of towns from the game’s main enemy: Grocks. As you can guess from the name, these hulking baddies are made out of rock, but still stand no chance towards your rolling attacks and turrets that you can build outside of towns. Considering how popular previous eShop games have been, such as Pushmo, I wouldn’t be surprised if Dillon’s Rolling Western is going to become a hit. Next, the video switches of to Kid Icarus: Uprising and it’s new features for players to enjoy. As expected, and hinted in a previous trailer, AR (Augmented Reality) Cards will have some role in the game, and 6 will be included with the game. Another bonus is the foldable stand that will be included with the game. It appears to make playing Kid Icarus easier for prolonged periods of time, and can be set on a desk to give your wrists a break. Other details on the multiplayer mode of Kid Icarus were also released. Multiplayer can have up to 6 players, either local wireless or online. Weapons gathered in the game can be put through “Weapon Fusion”, allowing for players to use stronger hybrid weapons to suit their needs. A difficulty setting was also released, allowing for players to put their skills to the test with more enemies and better weapons. To finish up, the new Mario sports installment was also officially announced, Mario Tennis Open. Its simple controls are welcoming to any player, and the touch screen is used for controls as well for those who prefer not to memorize button sequences. Mario Tennis Open will also have multiplayer capabilities for up to 4 players, local or online. As a reminder to all gamers out there, Kid Icarus: Uprising will be available on March 23rd, and a preorder at certain retailers will snag you a free download of the 3D Classics: Kid Icarus from the eShop. Check out the Kid Icarus: Uprising site while you’re at it, and get acquainted with the characters and other bits of information available. Read more »
Club Nintendo Refreshes Downloadable Rewards

Send to KindleTweetBeginning in December, the Nintendo’s reward program, Club Nintendo, began offering downloadable games for the Nintendo 3DS, DSi, and Wii in addition to their large collection of physical rewards. It recently updated its catalog with a few classics, one of which is the renowned Majora’s Mask, which I downloaded to my Wii. The other three games currently available are Dr. Mario Online RX (Wii), Kirby’s Dream Land (3DS), and Dr. Mario Express (DSi). Club Nintendo is one of the few “player-orientated” video game reward sites of used, mainly due to its reasonable pricing and desirable collector’s items it has available. To earn “coins”, you can simply register your consoles, hand helds, and games’ serial codes on their site, and after a simple survey you receive a specified amount of coins depending on what you registered. I’ve been a member for four years, and my collection of their prizes include two Game&Watch Collections, a collector’s edition Mario hat, Japanese-style bamboo fans, and many other products that you can check out on their catalog. Upcoming Nintendo 3DS Additions
Send to KindleTweet The 3DS has had a pretty poor start up, and even a 3DS owner like myself would agree that the 3DS is seriously lacking powerful start-up games to boost sales. I became extremely excited once I saw this beautiful limited edition Legend of Zelda 3DS. It will be released in Europe in December and will be bundled with a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Japanese players will also get to enjoy a Monster Hunters 3D themed 3DS bundle pack. Monster Hunters 3D will also be the first game to use the Nintendo 3DS Slide Pack. This is the 3DS Slide Pack. It attaches itself to the bottom of the 3DS, adding another row of shoulder buttons and an additional joystick. Future games such as Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance will be compatible with the Slide Pack. It may look bulky, but some lucky people who have demoed the Slide Pack emphasize the fact that it feels surprisingly normal. To close up, many strong games will be coming to the 3DS. As mentioned before, Monster Hunters 3D, Metal Gear Solid, and Kingdom Hearts 3D will be arriving to the 3DS in the near future, while games like Super Mario Land 3D, Mario Kart 7, Kid Icarus, Animal Crossing, Phoenix Wright vs. Professor Layton, and Super Smash Bros are either already available or coming as well. Thoughts On E3; What To Look Forward To
Send to KindleTweet The main event in gaming, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, E3, ended only five short days ago, unveiling many new titles and consoles that we here at OTN can’t wait to see. With all this recent buzz and new information, I’m sure many are a bit confused about what to buy this holiday season and beyond. In this post I’ll cover what you should and shouldn’t be looking forward to from E3. Consoles In the first section of the article I will cover the two consoles unveiled at this years E3. Sony PS Vita The Sony PlayStation Vita is Sony’s newest addition to its portable, handheld line. The Vita arguably gained some of the most buzz during and after the show because of its impressive specifications and graphics. The Vita sports an ARM Cortex quad-core, front an rear cameras, a front multi touch screen and a rear multi touch pad, (both capacitive), front and rear cameras, Six-axis support, a qHD, OLED, five-inch screen with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for $250. What a mouth full! In my opinion, this device annihilates the already-released Nintendo 3DS which is also competitively priced at $250. The PS Vita will deliver graphics similar to the PS3′s and will run off of a cartridge type media. Games announced include Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet and ModNation Racers, among others. The aspect of release titles and games where I am currently disappointed with Sony and the Vita. It was an enormous let-down to me when only a handful of good games were released for the PSP and I am extremely worried this will happen again this time around. The fact that this system dominates the specs on any other portable device gives me some confidence that developers will allow the system to flourish. Sony has always been known to lead the industry in specifications and power, but unfortunately, not so much in the game category. I most definitely plan on picking up this device this holiday season, and expect a full review once the device has released. The question is should you get it? The argument goes either way. I am hoping on receiving this one as a gift, so I will not have to shell out the $250 but if you are not, I would still pick this one up. Sony always delivers a good experience with their products overall, and the device is sure to be a hit. If you don’t have the dough or you are unsure about the upcoming titles, I would wait it out to see what the device has in store. Wii U Before E3, pictures and information on Nintendo’s Project Cafe, the successor to the Wii, surfaced. So on the second day of E3, Nintendo unveiled the Wii U controller during its press conference. The interesting thing is that they did not unveil the system, only the new controller that is used with the system. You may be thinking to yourself, why the Wii U? Well, according to Nintendo, the name Wii [...] Read more »

Netflix for Wii will no longer require disc
Send to KindleTweet People who use the Netflix Instant Streaming service on their Wii are in luck! So first of all, your streaming discs won’t work anymore. How do you get your Netflix goodness back? You’re going to need to download the Netflix application from the Wii Shop Channel. You’re also going to need to have one of the $8.99 a month subscriptions or higher.
