Send to KindleTweet CES is turning out to be the year of the ultrabook, and Dell is following suit with their new XPS 13 ultrabook. Lots of companies are looking to push Apple’s MacBook Air of it’s throne after seeing the huge success that it’s had in the hands of consumers. The XPS 13 weighs just about 3 pounds and like Apple’s MacBook Air, the XPS has a wedge design that tapers from .71 inches to .24 inches thick. The laptop is composed from an aluminium lid and strong carbon fiber chassis, which make the laptop lighter. At three pounds, the XPS 13 is still one of the heavier ultrabooks available on the available right now, but we only expect things to get lighter from here. The XPS 13 sports a 13-inch Gorilla Glass Display that displays a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution and at entry level, the processor will be a Core i5 CPU with a 128GB Solid State Drive, 4GB of RAM, and a backlit keyboard. Later in the year, Dell will refresh the models with Ivy Bridge CPUs. An Intel HD 3000 graphics card will power the gaming side of the system a 47Wh battery will keep you charged for up to eight hours of use. Interested consumers can also upgrade to a 256GB SSD and a Core i5 or Core i7 Sandy Bridge CPU. Later in the year, Dell will refresh the models with Ivy Bridge CPUs. Before any upgrades, this new Dell ultra book will run you just over $1,000, and will be in your hands sometime in February. [Source] [Developing] Read more »
The Microsoft Store Now Offering The Dell Inspiron Duo for $399
Send to KindleTweet The Dell Inspiron Duo is an interesting little netbook/tablet, but most people say it’s too expensive or slow. The “slate” function isn’t the best we’ve seen in a tablet, but with it’s new price tag it might just get a little more tempting to some. The total price cut on the Microsoft Store is 27% ($150). The Duo still packs the same specs; a dual-core Atom N550 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 320GB hard-drive, and a rotating display. The “premium” upgrade to the netbook has been slashed down to $99 bring the total to $498. Go here to buy the Inspiron Duo from the Microsoft Store. Read more »

Dell Venue Pro Plagued With Major SIM Problems
Send to KindleTweet The Dell Venue Pro was once one of the most desired Windows Phones. It’s quickly becoming one of the most frustrating phones on the market. We saw WiFi issues a few weeks ago and now it looks like this device is plagued with SIM issues. When you put a SIM card into a plagued phone, it works fine until you shut it down. As soon as you reboot the device, the phone will say “Invalid SIM” and is completely useless. I have had this issue with my Dell Venue. It looks like we’ll just have to wait and see if Dell pushes out a firmware update. Read more »

Why Dell is Awesome (Experience With Dell Customer Support)
Send to KindleTweet First of all, this is not a rant. There are lots of bad experiences with Dell out there, but mine is not one of them. It started with a problem with my Alienware M11x. The fan was broken and my screen’s hinge wasn’t supporting the screen very well. I didn’t have any extended warranty or anything like that so I was preparing for a 30 minute, waste-of-time call. I called Dell support and they picked up instantly. I didn’t have to wait at all. At first, the call went very quickly. The man on the telephone asked me questions about my computer, then said that someone would come out and fix my screen. I was so happy! I thought I would have to send my computer off for a month. For the rest of the call, the man on the telephone was either taking a coffee break, or typing painfully slow because the call dragged on for another 20 minutes. He then finally said that they would call me on Friday or Monday. It was currently Wednesday. The Dell guy came out on a Friday which was awesome because I didn’t have to wait over the weekend. He was very personable and he let me help him take the computer apart which was fun. He knew what he was doing and the whole thing took about 30 minutes. I actually enjoyed fitting in a new display and fan into my computer as I gained some technological knowledge about building computers along the way. Overall, from call to fixed computer, it took less than 48 hours. 48 hours; that’s impressive Dell. I will definitely be investing in another Dell computer in the future. Read more »
