In the words of Panasonic, the have been branching out from consumer electronics into energy management, entertainment systems, and more as they move away from single consumer products.

One thing that seems to be very evident that Panasonic is trying to achieve is to become on of the most eco-friendly companies with efforts including building eco-cities that rely on solar power and are “off the grid.” Lets get into the products that they touched on today.

Panasonic is working to get into the tablet market with a few new tablets that they showed off today. The first of the tablets is a rugged tablet that will be cloud based and appears to be Android powered. Another tablet that they talked about today was a unique Skype Tablet. As the name implies, this is a tablet dedicated to pretty much just doing Skype. If this is priced well and is high quality, this could become a hit!

Panasonic is working hard on a new lineup of TVs that are packed with pixels, but in a very small size. Though those are welcomed upgrades, there are a ton of software updates and features that will put these TVs even further in the ever-going competition of televisions. They have Ppartnered up with TV.com to give users more access to web based content and a Viera Connect Market with an interface to make it easier to grab apps for your TV. This will give users access to apps like Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Flixter and more!

Another avenue that Panasonic is trying to venture more into is 3D. According to Panasonic, 3D has been selling well. They want to have around 93% of their Plasma TV, 40% of their LCD TVs, and 4 Blu-Ray players to be 3D. Panasonic is also working with DirecTV to get more 3D content out there.

If you want to create 3D content, Panasonic may have a new camera for you. The new Z10000 3D will have amazing quality in both 3D and 2D, have “advanced macro 3D shooting“, multiple manual controls and some of the best audio quality possible.

Overall, I think 2012 will be a great year for Panasonic as well as all of technology. Stay tuned at OmniTechNews.net for continued coverage of CES 2012.

HP today revealed the new Envy 14 Spectre, which we saw recently in a leak. The HP Spectre joins the award-winning ENVY portfolio, alongside the recently introduced HP ENVY 15 and HP ENVY 17. The black glass on the outside, and silver glass on the inside could make for some potentially pricey drops, and a really nice laptop design.

As with other Envy laptops, the Spectre comes equipped with a matching audio-grade speaker mesh and Beats Audio. Powered by the latest Intel processors, the 20-mm-thin HP Spectre weighs less than 4 pounds and includes up to 256 gigabytes of storage. Other notable features include USB 3.0, and a 9-hour battery life. US citizens can get their paws on the new Envy 14 on February 14th, for $1399.99. [Source - HP]

Picture this. You’re on a business trip, and you want to play one of the big new games on your laptop (MW3 or Skyrim anyone?). The problem is, your gaming laptop overheats very easily when running games. Also, playing games cramps your back on airplanes. This is where the Prop comes in. The prop is an affordable and portable laptop stand. Emphasis on portable.

My MacBook Air on The Prop

I’ve been primarily using The Prop at school, for obvious reasons. I have to say, using the Prop made it easier to type, and was easier on my back. It also kept my fan noise to a minimum, which is very important during lectures. At home, The Prop did an awesome job of elevating my laptop, which keeps my desk uncluttered and neat. The best part about this whole experience, is that I’m not even using the final product, but a mere wood prototype.

The final production model of The Prop will be made out of recycled materials, and hard plastic. It weighs just an ounce, which is virtually unknown in the realm of laptop stands. It can hold any laptop with a 13-17 inch screen size.

The wooden prop

Like many creative projects, The Prop is being funded on Kickstarter. When Justin Brouillette & Nicholas Pajerski reach the $18,000 goal they’ve set, The Prop will go into production. By funding The Prop on their Kickstarter page, you guarantee yourself a brand-spanking new Prop (which comes in hard recycled-plastic). It’s not often you see a project as creative as this, so back it while you can.

For all of those people who just bought a WebOS product from Hewlett-Packard (HP) you are in for some very unfortunate

news regarding your product. Due to weakening sails, HP has discontinued their WebOS products like the Palm phone and the Touchpad. It seems like only yesterday they bought Palm and released the Touchpad. This decision was made due to low sales and probably some iOS envy. After that was made, HP then announced they are going to buy Autonomy for an estimated $10 billion. HP made this move because they decided rather than focusing on other devices, they just want to be PC only. That is right, PC ONLY! This sets HP up in a bad position against all of its rivals. Tablet, phones, and PC makers all are competitors to HP. With HP out of the tablet and phone business, I do not know how those brand new Q4 2011 and Q1 2012 earnings will look along with surviving in the market. What do you think? Leave a comment below!

Yes, everyone who have been eager for the new OSX, 10.7.1 has finally been released to the public! This new release brings these fixes to Lion:

Address an issue that may cause the system to become unresponsive when playing a video in Safari.

Resolve an issue that may cause system audio to stop working when using HDMI or optical audio out.

Improve the reliability of Wi-Fi connections.

Resolve an issue that prevents transfer of your data, settings, and compatible applications to a new Mac running OS X Lion.

Resolve an issue in which an admin user account could be missing after upgrading to OS X Lion.

Since OSX 10.7.1 is out, that is the thumbs up to go and grab Lion. It is highly recommended that you grab an OSX when it hits .1. If you have Lion, go and grab that update!

I know you all were expecting an OSX Lion review. Well, do not worry that will come later. On Tuesday, Apple held a meeting discussing there new quarter earnings. Now, I know this news is two days old, but its very incredible. Apple absolutely blew the doors off with their new earnings. Apple had a 124 percent year-on-year sales increase according to the IBTimes. The main player in the meeting, was CFO of Apple Peter Oppenheimer. He said that the iPad 2 absolutely cannibalized the Mac along with destroying PC (Microsoft Computer’s) sales. I now see why Apple would want to add some iOS technology to OSX Lion, so both products get a fair share. Oppenheimer also announced that day that Lion would be coming out on Wednesday and that iOS 5 would be coming “later this Fall.” I am not surprised Apple is at this position. They are, indeed, a very successful tech company. However, bad news leaked later that day concerning about a Steve Jobs replacement. That took a hit at Apples stock.

Your thoughts on this are very much appreciated, leave a comment below!

11.6 inch models:

The base model will include a 1.6 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, and 64GB of flash storage.
The more expensive standard configuration also includes a 1.6 GHz processor but upgrades the RAM to 4GB and the storage space to 128 GB.
A built to order model will also be available from the online store. This option includes a 1.8 GHz processor (first for an 11.6 inch MacBook Air), 4GB of RAM, and for the first time in an 11.6 inch MacBook Air, 256 GB of flash storage.

13.3 inch models:

The base standard configuration includes a 1.7 GHz processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128 GB of flash storage
The more expensive standard configuration also includes a 1.7 GHz processor, 4GB of RAM, but upgrades the storage to 256 GB.
A built to order option will also be available and this includes a 1.8 GHz chip, 4GB of RAM, and 256 GB of flash storage
As of 1am Pacific, Apple has not officially updated the store, but according to sources, it will be updated sometime on Wednesday (as Lion will also be released then). This is unconfirmed, but it shouldn’t be long now until it goes live on Apple.

It’s been a while since the Macbook Air has had any competition. This might just be changing with ASUS’s new UX series. This little notebook with weigh 2.4 pounds, feature i7 processors, and have a 2 second wake-from-sleep time thanks to some awesome ASUS software. One thing Asus is really getting right is the all-aluminum design, and as well as metal keys and a glass trackpad. The MacBook Air is due for an upgrade, but so far the UX looks like the laptop to get if you’re into thin computers. The UX21 is due in September.
