There has been a lot of complaints about this year’s TED conference. The 1500 people attending, however, all just received a free Nexus One. Most of the people that attend the conference would not need a free phone from Google but it’s still a great idea of them to do this. Last year they did the same sort of thing by handing out HTC Magic phones.

Seattle Ready for Google Fiber

So for the folks who live in the wonderful emerald city of Seattle, you’re in luck! Since Google has announced their plans to serve 1Gbps internet to certain cities (known as Google Fiber), Seattle Mayor, Mike McGinn, has announced that he will be accepting this offer.

Gmail Banned in Iran
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Iranian Government has banned the use of Gmail in Iran. Iran citizens will have access to a State-sponsored national email service. This new ban is expected to draw lots of mass protests and riots from citizens. After Facebook and Friendfeed was banned around election time last year, does this mean that Twitter could be next?

Google Runs Its First Super Bowl Ad
Google CEO Eric tweeted yesterday “Can’t wait to watch the Superbowl tomorrow. Be sure to watch the ads in the 3rd quarter (someone said “Hell has indeed frozen over.)”. As predicted, Google indeed played the ad above. There was some debate that Google would be playing a Nexus One ad but it looks like Google just wanted to play it safe with a Google search ad.
