This Thursday, CNN Money reported that AT&T outsold Verizon when it came to iPhone’s last quarter. Big Blue ended up selling 7.6 million iPhone’s; whereas Big Red sold a measly 4.2 million. Sprint will be revealing their sales on February 8, 2012.

The weird part about the entire thing is that Verizon outsold AT&T when it came to new contracts. Verizon had 1.2 million new customers get an iPhone, and AT&T only had 717,000. Including Android, Windows Phone 7, and BlackBerry, AT&T sold a total of 9.4 million smartphones last quarter. This means that about 81% of AT&T sales were to the iPhone.

Now, I’m assuming that Big Blue and Big Red outsold Sprint, but hey, you never know.

When netbooks came out a few years ago, people loved them. For a price cheaper than a regular laptop, you got a portable computer that was very light and easy to carry around. Sure, they weren’t the fastest. But they were cheap. Once PC manufacturers realized the potential of these little computers, they all started creating their own netbooks, and netbook sales shot up. Everybody needed to have one. People were doing all kinds of things with them. One was Dell’s Mini 9, which was a popular netbook for people to “Hackintosh” by putting Apple’s Mac OS X onto the system.

But recently, netbooks sales have been in decline. Even though today’s netbooks are much better in specs and price compared those of a few years ago, they aren’t in demand nearly as much as they used to be. Many believe the reason for this is because of tablets like Apple’s iPad. Tablets offer a relatively affordable way to get on the internet and do some basic tasks, just like netbooks do. However, they are even lighter and more portable then netbooks are. They also feature touch screens, which allow developers to make all kinds of innovative applications that wouldn’t be possible to make for a netbook.

Even though netbooks aren’t as popular as they used to be, they still are an important part of tech history. They gave people the opportunity to get a portable computer for a very low price, which is why netbooks will always be remembered as the computers that allowed many to start computing on the go. For that reason, the netbook is an important piece of tech history.

When the Kindle Fire was introduced back in September, there were some skeptical people. Many thought that Amazon reaching the $200 price point would mean the tablet experience would be much worse than on other tablets at higher price points. They mentioned the lack of cameras, Bluetooth, a microphone, and more. But it doesn’t matter. Here’s why.

When doubters mention the lack of these features, they aren’t thinking of the Kindle Fire’s target market. The Fire is for people who want to sit back and just play some games, read books, and watch movies. The new document translation feature is also really awesome. For them, cameras, Bluetooth, and microphones don’t matter to them. All they want is a way to enjoy content. Nothing more, nothing less.

So, overall, I think the Kindle Fire will be great for people that just want to have an easy way to have a ton of content at their fingertips. And that’s what they’ll get. With Amazon Prime on the device, people will be able to stream tons of content for only $79 a year. That’s all most people need. With this price point, parents will be able to give their kids tablets without breaking the bank. The Fire will be what puts tablets into the hands of people that didn’t want to drop hundreds more for a more expensive tablet. And that’s what’s exciting.

iOS 5 officially arrived last Wednesday to the iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3rd Gen, and the iPod 4th Gen! In this case, I have a hand-me-down iPod Touch 3rd Gen from my brother. Upgrading to the new iOS wasn’t hard, however due to the fact that so many people were downloading it, I ran into some problems installing the upgrade. Above are some screenshots of iOS 5 in action.

I thought it would be nicer to show you the new, cool features, of iOS 5 through pictures instead of writing. To download the new iOS 5, you need to update your iTunes to 10.5, plug your iOS device into your computer, and update. Depending on your internet connection, the update might be fast or slow due to how many megabytes it is.

Recently rumors have been going around that Apple was planning a late October release for its newest iteration of iPhone(s). The reason it may be plural comes with further speculation that Apple will release another iPhone model along side their usual device update, probably seeking customers that want a lower price point or smaller design. Well the event is now confirmed. Apple today, sent out invitations to reporters about their newest, “executive” event, which will most likely be lead by new Apple CEO Tim Cook. The event will take place next Tuesday, October 4th.

There are tons and tons of next-gen iPhone rumors out there… but all I’m going to say right now, is that I am buying this.

According to Boy Genius Report, they have gotten their hands on a leaked document that claims the iPhone 5 will be coming to Sprint… and soon. This leaked document claims that the phone will be available in the first week of October, but you may be able to pre-order one sooner. Other leaks going around also claim the iPhone 5 to be coming in October, making this seem even more plausible. Better yet, were expecting the iPhone 5 to be both CDMA and GSM meaning that one iPhone would work for all the carriers!

Yes, everyone who have been eager for the new OSX, 10.7.1 has finally been released to the public! This new release brings these fixes to Lion:

Address an issue that may cause the system to become unresponsive when playing a video in Safari.

Resolve an issue that may cause system audio to stop working when using HDMI or optical audio out.

Improve the reliability of Wi-Fi connections.

Resolve an issue that prevents transfer of your data, settings, and compatible applications to a new Mac running OS X Lion.

Resolve an issue in which an admin user account could be missing after upgrading to OS X Lion.

Since OSX 10.7.1 is out, that is the thumbs up to go and grab Lion. It is highly recommended that you grab an OSX when it hits .1. If you have Lion, go and grab that update!

A Japanese website is reporting the tech giant will be having a press conference on Wednesday September 7th to announce a new line of iPods. The site also claims that the iPhone 5 will ship in September 2011 or early-October 2011. The part about the iPhone5 announcement might happen a few weeks later. The site who is reporting this, Kodawarsian, has been accurately reporting Apple rumors in the past so this one could be very true. Normally, a new iphone would be announced at WWDC, but that was not the case this year. This year, Apple showed off OSX Lion and iOS 5. Apple has been very famous for speculation around their devices and has always left us buzzing with rumors. Whatever happens in Cupertino, never stays in Cupertino.
I know you all were expecting an OSX Lion review. Well, do not worry that will come later. On Tuesday, Apple held a meeting discussing there new quarter earnings. Now, I know this news is two days old, but its very incredible. Apple absolutely blew the doors off with their new earnings. Apple had a 124 percent year-on-year sales increase according to the IBTimes. The main player in the meeting, was CFO of Apple Peter Oppenheimer. He said that the iPad 2 absolutely cannibalized the Mac along with destroying PC (Microsoft Computer’s) sales. I now see why Apple would want to add some iOS technology to OSX Lion, so both products get a fair share. Oppenheimer also announced that day that Lion would be coming out on Wednesday and that iOS 5 would be coming “later this Fall.” I am not surprised Apple is at this position. They are, indeed, a very successful tech company. However, bad news leaked later that day concerning about a Steve Jobs replacement. That took a hit at Apples stock.

Your thoughts on this are very much appreciated, leave a comment below!
