The rating system of 1-5 stars has been around for a while, but have you ever wondered what 2, or 4 stars really mean? It’s clear that 1 star means that it sucks and 5 stars means that it’s amazing, but different stars mean different qualities for every person. So why not make something more simple? That’s what Stamped, a new, in-development rating system that will become available to the iPhone in the next few weeks is all about.

Stamped will be competing against many other mobile rating services, so the developers want the service to be quick, simple, and easy. The company is run mostly by people who used to work at Google, and received funding from Bain Capital Ventures and Google Ventures earlier in the year. CEO and co-founder Robby Stein notes “I noticed this is information people are naturally drawn to sharing, so I started with building a prototype that made this easier and more efficient”
