Spotify Competitors and Differences
Pandora offers something much like Spotify, but it has a couple big differences. First of all, with Pandora, you can’t choose exactly what you want to here. For example, if you search “Dirt Road Anthem” it usually won’t play “Dirt Road Anthem.” Rather, it will play songs like “Dirt Road Anthem,” songs by Jason Aldean, and songs that are country. The other difference, (which to me is really important) is that there is no offline service available! Even if you upgrade to Pandora One ($36/year), you still have to be connected to the internet. Last.fm is also much like Pandora, but gives more artists for you to choose from. Slacker is (in my opinion) the second best thing to Spotify, but the one thing that made me go to Spotify, is that Spotify‘s library is 15 million vs. Slackers estimated 8 million.
Conclusion
Personally, I think that the best deal is the Platinum ($9.99/month) service because it offers offline use so that you can still listen to Spotify if you don’t have WiFi, 3G, 4G or any connectivity at all. A
fter using Pandora, Slacker, and Last.fm I really do believe that Spotify has the best feature set and is the streaming music service that you should use.
