DropBox is a really great file sharing service. The entire Omnitechnews team uses it to share videos and documents with each other without the need of email. When you first sign up for a DropBox account, you only get 2GB of space. Today I’m going to show you how to get an extra 17.5GB for free! Bear in mind, to get the full amount shown in this article, you have to have a .edu address. If not, you can still get an extra 9.5GB.
1. This first one is pretty obvious, but it brings in an extra 250MB. All you have to do is go to dropbox.com/gs and complete all of the “quests”. These activities take about 5 minutes, and include adding files to your Dropbox and inviting people to join a folder. Once these easy tasks are complete, you instantly get your extra space.
2. Unless you’ve hunted around on the DropBox website, you might not have seen this next method. All you have to do it go to dropbox.com/free and complete the solution network challenges. These are things like: Tweet about DropBox, share it on Facebook, and other easy tasks which take seconds to complete. There are 5 of these activities, and they give you an extra 128MB each for a total of around 750MB.
3. This next step is in my opinion, the hardest. You have to get people to sign up for DropBox using your referral code. I have found the best thing to do is to invite people who don’t have a DropBox account to a DropBox folder. This way you get the extra space without them having to install the software. If you refer enough people, you can get a whopping 8GB extra DropBox space.
4. DropBox is really useful for students, and DropBox is helping out students even more with their DropBox edu problem. The bottom line is, if you have a school email address, you can apply to get the edu program for your school, whether your school uses edu or not. If you sign up for this program, all of your referrals double, so you can get a total of 16GB for referring people to DropBox.
