Why Dell is Awesome (Experience With Dell Customer Support)

First of all, this is not a rant. There are lots of bad experiences with Dell out there, but mine is not one of them. It started with a problem with my Alienware M11x. The fan was broken and my screen’s hinge wasn’t supporting the screen very well. I didn’t have any extended warranty or anything like that so I was preparing for a 30 minute, waste-of-time call. I called Dell support and they picked up instantly. I didn’t have to wait at all.
At first, the call went very quickly. The man on the telephone asked me questions about my computer, then said that someone would come out and fix my screen. I was so happy! I thought I would have to send my computer off for a month. For the rest of the call, the man on the telephone was either taking a coffee break, or typing painfully slow because the call dragged on for another 20 minutes. He then finally said that they would call me on Friday or Monday. It was currently Wednesday.
The Dell guy came out on a Friday which was awesome because I didn’t have to wait over the weekend. He was very personable and he let me help him take the computer apart which was fun. He knew what he was doing and the whole thing took about 30 minutes. I actually enjoyed fitting in a new display and fan into my computer as I gained some technological knowledge about building computers along the way.
Overall, from call to fixed computer, it took less than 48 hours. 48 hours; that’s impressive Dell. I will definitely be investing in another Dell computer in the future.
