Well, everyone knows Andorid has been doing great lately; but did anyone know it was to this degree? The folks at Digitimes dropped a forecast today stating that:
“Shipments of Android-based smartphones are estimated to jump 561% from a year ago to more than 55 million units in 2010.”
That is absolutely phenomenal! Google has obviously done a great job with Android. Digitimes credited most of this growth to Samsung and LG, who are the second and third largest handset makers respectively. Their increased adherence to the operating system has resulted in great growth for Google’s mobile OS. Meanwhile, they also note that Symbian will see a decline, and that Blackberry will remain level.
