Microsoft has just announced 2 new devices, Kin One and Kin Two. These are the two Project Pink phones that we’ve been waiting for. The two phones are made by Sharp and run a very scaled down version of WP7. The main purpose of the Kin devices is social networking so the OS is very centered around that. There is a new browser which is supposedly based on the Zune HD web browser. Unfortunately, there is NO support for third-party apps, Flash, or Silverlight. The screens on the Kin devices are Capacitive Multitouch displays so there IS pinch to zoom and all of that good multitouch goodness. The Kin One is a small square device. It has a QVGA display, a 5 megapixel camera (with a flash), 4GB of internal storage, and a full QWERTY keyboard. The Kin Two is a more rectangular device which has an HVGA display, an 8 megapixel camera, 8GB of internal storage, and the same QWERTY keyboard. Both phones have WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3G cellular radios. Verizon will be the carrier for these devices which both come out in May. We don’t know the exact prices yet but we don’t think these things will be too expensive. Here are some more pictures from the event on Engadget’s website: http://bit.ly/93R1iw
