Gmail Banned in Iran

According to the Wall Street Journal, the Iranian Government has banned the use of Gmail in Iran. Iran citizens will have access to a State-sponsored national email service. This new ban is expected to draw lots of mass protests and riots from citizens. After Facebook and Friendfeed was banned around election time last year, does this mean that Twitter could be next?
