Skype goes HD

The new Skype 4.2 Beta allows users to video-chat in 720p (if their webcam is able to shoot 720p). Not only that but Skype is partnering with LG and Panasonic for Skype-enabled HDTVs. So, Skype 4.2 can shoot 1280×720 at 30fps. Problem is that most webcams don’t shoot HD. To fix this little issue, Skype is releasing a whole new line of HD webcams that are manufactured by faceVision and In Store. Now onto the HDTV part. LG and Panasonic are going to be developing new HDTVs that have webcams and the Skype software built-in. The Skype software for the HDTVs will have just about all the same features as the regular Skype software for computers. To learn more, visit www.skype.com.
