HP slimline s5110t Review

A while back I unboxed the HP slimline s5110t. Well, now we’ve got a review for you guys. I’d just like to start out by saying that I’ve had this computer for a couple months now and I am loving it. I bought it from HP for about $500. I customized it with 3GB of RAM, a 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and a 500GB HDD. The computer also came with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit edition which I later upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit edition.

Here are the Windows Experience Index ratings that were given to the HP slimline s5110t:

Processor: 6.5

RAM: 5.9

Graphics/Gaming Graphics: 3.6/3.3 (These scores are lower than the others because I bought the machine with an integrated graphics card.

Primary Hard Disk: 5.9

On the front of the machine, you have a DVD/CD drive, a headphone jack, 2 USB 2.0 ports, and an SD card slot. Also on the front is an HP Pocket Media Drive which allows you to connect an HP Portable Media Drive to your computer. On the back you have 4 USB 2.0 ports, a VGA port, an  Ethernet port, a mic jack, a line out jack, and a line in jack.

So far the computer has been very speedy and powerful. It’s also extremely small and light. The computer weighs only about 4 pounds.

The only problem I’ve encountered with the HP slimline s5110t is that since the case is so small, you can pretty much forget about just opening up the case and switching out RAM or a graphics card. In order to even access the motherboard you have to remove the hard drive.

Other than that I would definitely recommend this computer. It’s fast, cheap, thin, and good-looking. Overall, I’d give the HP slimline s5110t a 9 out of 10 because of how difficult it is to swap out things like RAM and graphics cards.
