Our friends over at Twitter are currently fighting off a distributed-denial-of-service attack. A DDOS attack is an attempt to shut down a site by overwhelming it with traffic. Twitter was completely shut down earlier this morning. However, the team of experts over at Twitter HQ were able to get the site back up. The team is still fighting off the attack but the site is currently functional. Other social-networking site that are linked to Twitter like Facebook are also experiencing some glitching. This is probably related to the DDOS attack. We will update you soon on this unexpected Twitter DDOS attack.
Update: Twitter is back up for the most part. There are still some minor glitches that are occurring but the important thing is that you can tweet again, right?
